Mayer ranna

amar mayer ranna asadharon...ektu cliche laagjhe ki?? laagtei pare...amar rannar hate khori amar mayer theke...pora shonar fake fake amay ranna sekhano hoto..bola bahullo je amar nijer sekhar agroho khub chilo...ami eto mon diye kauke kono din ranna korte dekhini...simple recipe but simply delicious & what more with less spice & oil...in other words she stirs up a storm in the kitchen!!!

I have grown watching Ma & my other aunts cooking up nice little things so meticulously...gatherings in our family = food fests of some sorts...gossips were secondary!!!.. i will share some of my mom's recipe & others too ...

My mum bakes chocolate sponge cake with choco chips at every bite each year for my birthday...thats my fav...o ya & of course "Payesh" or rice pudding...
Mayer rojkar ranna r moddye macher jhal ta khubi bhalo.... she makes mouthwatering cury or what we call "Tarkari " in bengali with all seasonal vegetables like gourd, french beans, brinjal, pumpkin along with "maacher kata" or fish bone and fish head...my all time fav is the "Murighanto" - its a dish with fish bones/head with a typical rice call the "Gobindo bhog" ...my mom always prefers to cook "Murighonto" with small grained rice rather with " muger dal" i.e pulses which makes it all the more yummy.

They say nobody can prepare "Pithe" (sweet dumpling both steamed & cooked in milk with sweetened coconut filling)like the "Bangals " do but my mom happens to be a "Typical "Ghoti" belonging to central Kolkata(Bowbazar). Anytime any bet....she makes awesome "pathisapta" Puli(dumpling)or gokul pithe..to name a few.

I am not sure whether i will be able to carry on the legacy but i will try. This blog is for my mom and her cooking. There is so much to write & share which i will through this blog.
